Work Experience
Draft Australia / Lowe Hunt - Interactive Creative Director
Feb 2004 - Feb 2006
When I initially approached the Lowe Hunt Group, Australia (which includes Draft) they were lacking in-house interactive skills. Through discussions I convinced them that it was an essential part of the marketing mix and that they could reap huge benefits from having an in-house interactive team working seamlessly with the other mediums they traditionally focused on.
Over the following 18 months interactive became entrenched into the agency and, in turn, incorporated into campaigns with clients including NESTLÉ, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Football Federation Australian, HSBC, Computer Associates, Channel 7 and Coca Cola.
Leading projects such as defining a comprehensive Interactive strategy for Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific and the launch of new brands such as the Hyundai A-League (the Australian version of the English Premiership), I played a key role in putting Lowe Hunt/Draft on the map as a highly credible interactive partner.
Following the success of integrating the interactive element into these campaigns, Lowe Hunt/Draft made a clear commitment to shift direction and focus firmly toward the interactive area and it's convergence with other mediums such as TV.
During my time at Lowe Hunt/Draft I spearheaded the interactive element of several award winning campaigns where interactive played a key role in the campaign success. These include a number of awards for work on campaigns for LYNX and Channel 7. Most recently, the Activation for LYNX known as LYNXjet, which has the ultimate mix of elements to be a Titanium winner at Cannes in 2006. Fingers crossed!
Profero Australia - Creative Director
Jul 2001 - Nov 2003
Having spent the previous 3 years building the creative team and reputation within Europe, I decided that Profero could take advantage of a Global resource and create a mirror for the Australasian market.
Profero Australia now has a diverse range of clients ranging from large Airline carriers such as Singapore Airlines, to local tourism development; Singapore Tourism Board. Local pay TV channels such as National Geographic and UKTV, Mortgage specialists; Resi Mortgage, and many government agencies, such as DEST and DOH.
Whilst at Profero Australia I also produced work for clients in other regions such as CNN Europe, and with the opening of the Singapore office I was able to work directly with a number of clients including DaimlerChrysler, OCBC, Singapore Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board.
In July 2003 I won an award for the promotion of the Hugely Successful BBC series ‘The Office’ which aired on 'UK TV' in Australia. The award titled ‘The best use of integrated media for a pay TV channel’ was awarded by ASTRA.
Using my knowledge of the company’s Proprietary technologies and systems, I was able to very quickly build a strong team of knowledgeable experts in the field, with a reputation for creative excellence.
Profero UK - Creative Director
Mar 1998 - Jul 2001
Profero is the leading interactive agency in Europe, having delivered more interactive ad campaigns than any other agency. From launch in 1998 they were the first agency to focus solely on marketing solutions online.
The team grew from four to over 70 in just 3 years and is one of the fastest growing advertising companies in Europe.
During my time at Profero I built a creative team of 15 people. The team were described as Internet trailblazers, with a creative reputation built on the beliefs and attention to detail I instilled in them.
As well as creating advertising campaigns from brief, my team also worked with above-the-line agencies on integrated strategies. Experience from a wide range of traditional graphic design and marketing backgrounds was applied to understanding and communicating with Internet users. Not only did we constantly surpass our clients’ expectations, my creative team received significant press attention and in the process received the following industry recognition:
- Shortlisted for 1999 Revolution Awards Online Campaign of the year for the launch of Sky Digital.
- Awarded Revolution Campaign of the month for the Channel 5 Online Campaign and Programme promotion.
- Awarded Campaign of the Month for Reed Online Campaign.
- Shortlisted for 2001 Revolution Awards Online Campaign of the Year for the ESPN Soccernet Campaign.
- Shortlisted for 2001 Revolution Awards Agency of the Year.
Whilst working at the agency I had total design control over a variety of projects. As Creative Director I ran a team of young design professionals delivering innovative interactive advertising solutions. In doing this I have been instrumental in building the creative reputation of Profero which is second to none.
Whilst at Profero I worked on and managed over 1000 integrated creative campaigns within the interactive space . My portfolio boasted work with a diverse range of clients from global corporations such as BT, CNN, Merrill Lynch and AOL Time Warner, high profile Internet start-ups such as Excite, Sharepeople and Lastminute.com to leading Broadcasters such as Channel 5, ITV and the BBC. I helped clients transform the way they do business through the use of Internet-based technologies.
Whilst achieving my goals I participated in a number of industry discussions and articles such as:
- Industry Practitioners of Advertising - Discussion on 'What Makes Good Advertising', resulting in a book used by Advertisers all over the word as an advertising resource.
- Create Magazine – Discussion on the pitching process in the new media industry.
As founding creative member it is fair to say that Profero's current standing and Creative reputation is built on the creative team and solutions I developed during my 3 years at the company.
